When does my membership expire?

All ASPB memberships expire at the end of the calendar year on December 31. Once membership renewal opens for the following year, usually around September or October, your membership will start immediately, finish the current year and extend through the end of the following year. We do not have multi-year memberships at this time.  You can check when your membership expires by going to your profile and clicking on Membership Info under My Profile on the right side of the screen when you are logged in.  If your membership has expired, you will be prompted to renew when you attempt to log in.

Journal subscriptions are also for the calendar year. If you purchase a journal mid-year, you will be sent all the journals from the beginning of that calendar year.

How do I set up auto-renew?

All members will need to manually renew for 2011. Regular members can opt for auto-renew of their membership by selection the membertype Regular - Yearly Auto-Renew (credit  cards only) when submitting payment.  If you wish to change your auto-renew setting, please contact us.  Post-docs, graduate and undergrauate students can not sign up for auto-renew.

Do I qualify for Emeritus membership and how do I get my member type changed?

Emeritus membership is a free membership we offer to members who are professionally retired, are at least 65 years of age and have been ASPB members for at least the last 20 consecutive years. If you believe you qualify, please contact us and request that your member type be changed.

Besides credit cards, what payment methods does ASPB accept?

ASPB also accepts checks written in US dollars and wire transfers. Please contact us for more details.

My credit card was declined when I tried to join/renew online. Now what do I do?

First we suggest that you check with your credit card company to see if they can tell you why your credit card was declined. You may also fax (301-251-6740) or email your form and credit card information to us and we can run the payment for you. If that still does not work, ASPB does accept checks written in US dollars and wire transfers.

How do I get another copy of my membership payment confirmation/receipt?

You can log in to the website and then click on Membership Info on the right side of the screen.  Near the bottom of the screen it will say Send confirmation email.  You can also contact us to request another copy of your confirmation/receipt. If you have any special requests, such as you need a hard copy mailed instead of an email copy or you need a signature on the receipt, please let us know.

I think I renewed twice. How do I get a refund, or can I just use the double payment for 2 years of membership?

If you believe you have renewed your membership more than once please contact us with the dates of the multiple renews, if possible. We will refund the duplicate renewal(s). Unfortunately, at this time, we do not have the option of multi-year memberships.

How can I obtain a membership card or letter?

ASPB does not mail membership cards or letters to every member, but you can print your own membership card after you log in by clicking on MEMBERSHIP INFO on the right side of the screen. There will be a link in the middle of the screen to view/print a membership card. If you are not a current member, but need a letter that states the dates of your expired membership, please email us to request one.

I have already renewed my membership. Why do I keep getting reminders to renew?

It can take up to 10 days during peak season to process renewals. If you get a second renewal reminder after you have already renewed, please contact us.

If you renewed via check or wire transfer, and you think we should have received the payment by the time you received the renewal reminder, please contact us and let us know. If you include details such as when the payment was sent, whether it was a personal check, an institutional check or a wire transfer, and, for wires, a copy of the wire transfer documentation, it will be easier for us to try and locate your payment. The more details you provide, the faster we can get the issue resolved.
