The National
Science Foundation (NSF), Directorate
for Biological Sciences (BIO) has released two Dear Colleague Letters
publicizing two funding opportunities aimed at increasing participation from
K-12 teachers and high school students.
The goal of the Research
Experience for Teachers (RET) activity is to enhance the professional
development of K-12 science educators through research experience at the
emerging frontiers of science in order to bring new knowledge into the classroom. Research
Assistantships for High School Students (RAHSS) aims to broaden
participation of high school students, particularly those who are
underrepresented minorities, persons with disabilities, and women in
sub-disciplines where they are underrepresented.
For both programs, funding requests can be
added to new or renewal BIO proposals or as a supplemental funding request to
an active BIO award. Please see the Dear Colleague Letters for additional information.
