I had the opportunity today to meet and talk to few of the 2011 SURFers and their mentors. ASPB launched the SURF fellowship program in 2001 through the efforts of Drs. Mark Brodl and Jonathan Monroe. Since then, the SURF committee has awarded several undergraduates this distinguished fellowship and made a tremendous impact on their career and life. Needless to say, the SURFers are motivated group of excellent undergraduates and their mentors value undergraduate education and research highly. Hats off to the ASPB SURFers, mentors, the education committee and the executive committees for making a difference in undergraduate education/research in plant biology!
Watch these videos to find out what the SURFers and their mentors have to say about the impact of SURF on undergraduate education.
