This is the only conference to convene on a regular basis that facilitates an integration of new findings from both mitochondrial and chloroplast systems. This conference will bring together scientists studying plant, algal, fungal, animal, and protozoan cells, and employing biophysical, biochemical, genetic, genomic, and cell biological approaches. The conference will include discussion of leading edge research on (1) organelle structure, biogenesis, protein trafficking, inter-organellar crosstalk, and dynamics; (2) organellar genome evolution, expression, replication, and repair; and (3) the structure and function of energy transducing membranes. Approximately two talks in each session will be selected from submitted abstracts. This conference will be preceded by a Gordon Research Seminar (GRS), which provides a special forum for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to present and discuss their research prior to the main conference.
