The American Institute of Biological Sciences is seeking graduate student leaders who want to shape science policy. Please help us spread the word about this exciting opportunity by sharing it with your organization's members and staff.
The Emerging Public Policy Leadership Award provides graduate students with the opportunity to gain first hand experience in science policy during our annual Congressional Visits Day. Award winners will receive a free trip to Washington, DC to discuss with lawmakers the importance of federal support for the biological sciences. Participants also receive training on communicating with policymakers, and information about the legislative process and trends in federal investments in research.
The 2013 award is open to U.S. citizens enrolled in a graduate degree program in the biological sciences, science education, or a closely allied field. Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in and commitment to science policy and/or science education policy.
The deadline to apply is 28 January 2013. The application and supporting materials are available online.
