July 25-26, 2013 - Providence, Rhode Island, immediately following Plant Biology 2013

ASPB welcomes credentialed members of the press to the Plant Biology annual meeting, a yearly gathering of approximately 1,500 plant biology researchers and educators. Press will have complimentary access to scientific and poster sessions and non-ticketed workshops to hear the latest advancements in plant biology and interact with leading experts in the field. The following categories are eligible for complimentary press registration:
  • Working press including reporters, news editors, science writers, news producers, and others working for recognized print, television, radio, or online entities should provide press credentials, a business card, or letter from an editor or similar of a recognized publication or media outlet.

  • Freelance writers should provide a copy of a letter assigning you to cover the Plant Biology meeting; a current membership card from the National Association of Science Writers, Canadian Science Writers Association, International Science Writers Association or other affiliates of the World Federation of Science Journalists; or recent evidence of related work (with your by-line) in a recognized publication within the last year.

  • Public informaiton officers from nonprofit institutions including government agencies, educational and/or research institutions, and scientific societies should provide a copy of a business card or other evidence of affiliation.

Representatives of for-profit institutions, publishers, those attending as exhibitors or scientists, and those on the business side of the media (e.g., marketing, public relations, sales) should register for the meeting and pay any applicable fees.

Bloggers or others from nontraditional media sources will generally be expected to register for the meeting and pay any applicable fees, but ASPB will consider special requests on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us with additional information.

Please note that the use of audio or video recording devices or cameras is prohibited at all scientific sessions, workshops, and poster sessions without expressed prior permission from ASPB and the author/speaker.

Press registrants must also show valid photo identification issued by a federal or state government. ASPB reserves the right to limit the number of individuals from a single organization that may receive press passes. All decisions about press registration and access are at the discretion of ASPB.
